Tim Castano | President
Tim Castano serves as President of New Start New Jersey, a policy and advocacy organization dedicated to exploring and enacting the most effective public policy initiatives to grow the state’s economy and improve the quality of life for its citizens.
Tim previously held the position of the Chief of Staff to the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Financing the Health Millennium Development Goals and for Malaria. He also served as a policy advisor and speechwriter to the Governor of New Jersey, as the Special Advisor to the Chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and as the Assistant Director of a policy research institute at Princeton University.
Tim holds a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a master’s degree in public policy from Rutgers University, where he was a Fellow of the Eagleton Institute of politics. He graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in English and philosophy and a B.A.H. in honors from Villanova University, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. He is a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters and sits on the Board of Directors of the African Leaders Malaria Alliance.
